Animal Cruelty: Cows
Dairy Cows and Calves
-40% of dairy cows are lame by the time they reach the slaughter house. More than 100,000 cows are unable to walk off the transport trucks per year, but yet they are still slaughtered for human food.
-Most hamburger comes from spent dairy cows who are unable to produce any more milk, after being constantly impregnated their entire lives in order to keep the milk flowing
-Baby calves are torn from their mothers at only a few weeks old, causing both the mother and the calves distress. The calves are usually sold to veal farmers for slaughter.

Cattle
-They are castrated, have their horns chopped off, and are repeatedly branded and stabbed with electric rods all without pain killers.
-USDA allows meat from animals with cancerous legions and puss filled wounds to be considered "USDA pure," so injuries and illnesses often go untreated.
-At slaughter, cattle often have their throats slit, are skinned, and dismantled while still fully conscious and suffering.
